Couch Rights
After purchasing your subscription, you can then travel outside of the Gotham Sports regional broadcasting area and continue to access your favorite content for up to 30 days.
If you have continuously been outside of the Gotham Sports regional broadcasting area for greater than 30 days you will no longer be able to access your favorite content until you return to the Gotham Sports regional broadcasting area. Once you return to the Gotham Sports regional broadcasting area your streaming access will be reset and you will have another 30 days to access the Gotham Sports App outside of the Gotham Sports regional broadcasting area.
About Couch Rights and Traveling Access:
Couch Rights is your access to premium content while you are within your registered home region. If Couch Rights expires (typically after 30 days without a successful home-region login), or if our systems detect usage outside your home region, you may see alerts like "log in from your home zip code to avoid losing couch rights." Away access is limited and is intended for occasional use when you are not in your home region.
Why you might receive alerts even at home:
Some streaming devices (Roku, Fire TV/Stick, Apple TV, Smart TVs) do not have built‑in GPS and rely on your ISP’s IP address for location. Inaccurate IP mapping can trigger Couch Rights even when you’re at home. If the device or your internet provider reports an IP that looks outside your home region, the app may treat it as travel usage and trigger a notification. Location Services being disabled on mobile can also prevent a successful home-region validation.
Best Practices:
- Keep device and app software up to date
- Disable VPNs or DNS‑changing services on the device and router
- Power cycle the device and network equipment
- If your TV device is misreading location, use a mobile device at home to check in first, then sign in again on the TV device
How to restore and keep Couch Rights active:
- At least once every 30 days, sign in to the Gotham Sports app with Location Services enabled while you are physically within your home region (your registered home zip code)
- For the most reliable validation, use a mobile device with GPS enabled while you are at home
- Make sure VPNs, proxies, or any location-masking services are turned off
- If you use streaming devices, connect them to your home network and also periodically validate your location via the mobile app
Prevent false "away" triggers:
- Enable Location Services for the Gotham Sports app on your mobile device and allow the app to use your precise location
- Avoid using VPNs or proxies, which can route your traffic through distant locations
- If your ISP occasionally routes traffic outside your region, use your mobile device at home to perform a location check to keep Couch Rights active

• Couch Rights are tracked per device, not per account
• Each device gets 30 total days outside the Home Zone
